6.0 or 7.3?

i presently own a 99 psd with 191,000 on the clock with no major problems. a friend wants to buy it. so i found a replacement in a 2003 6.0 psd. i have heard so many problems with the 6.0, that im hesitant to purchace it. what is the worst case scenario that could happen to this engine?

In 2003 Ford had both the 7.3 and the 6.0, you could if your lucky find a 03' with the 7.3 and play it safe, but the 4r100 tranny could be better, kinda shifted weird,,,or if your feelin like you wanna take a chance go with the 6.0, the TS auto sure is a sweet tranny, but some probs with engine were, wire harness chafing, EGR valves, turbos, head gaskets, etc ,,I have a 06' 6.0 with almost 18 k on it,,so far so good, and I dont baby it.

A good description I can think of is: the 6.0L is a thoroughbred, the 7.3L is a Clydsdale. The 7.3L is a proven work horse, but it doesn't hold a candle to the power and performance of the 6.0L IMO.

The 6.0 has better power, but like any performance part, require more care and cost.
Depends on how you use your truck. The 6.0 has a much better ride. 7.3 built like a sledge hammer, hard to break it.
