On my (new to me) 85' F150 w/ 110K miles somthing is slipping. From a dead stop in first gear with about 1/2 throttle or more i feel something slip, but also, i HEAR it slip. From what I can tell it's coming from farther back than the transmission. Also, I never been able to hear a trans. slip...
Im starting to think something in the axle or drive shaft is slippin. But, what could it be?
I recently changed the trans fluid with a mix of Q full synthetic and Mobil 1 full synthetic. This is an auto trans.
Any comments are appreciated.
EDIT:
Also, under hard acceleration i get a "slam". I can't seem to figure out if its the 1st to 2nd shift, or BEFORE the shift.
I read on this board this could be a slip yoke issue. Could this slippage be also?

sounds more like your about to need some work. take the truck to a good local shop and have it properly checked outas it sounds more like a internal problem
Is this a C4 or C6 transmission? Didn't they use a vacuum operated pressure modulator?
I agree that you need to take the truck to a trusted shop, have them check it out. Make sure they have a set of pressure gauges that they can check out line pressure. It could be as simple as something out of adjustment, or a broken vacuum line, or it could be that the simple problem has been going on for so long that you now have fried bands and the trans needs a rebuild.
