Question on fasteners...

Okay when it eventually gets warmer outside I am going to be installing some GT40 Heads and a 302HO camshaft in my 92 F-150 now my question is what fasteners do I need to go with on installing these heads? I thought about some ARP standard head bolts, would that work? I was also advised to use ARP bolts on the lower intake manifold as well. Studs would probably be better to use on the heads right. Just trying to make this as painless as possible guys...

Studs for the intake make it easier to line up the intake to the heads. I just use 4 pieces of threaded rod in the corners then swap them out for the proper bolts when the intake is in place. Plus what hemieater says. Stock is fine. If you have to pull a head while the motor is in place head studs can be a bear to get over.

Do NOT re-use the stock head bolts. These are the torque to yeild bolts.(these are threaded their whole length if you're not sure which they are) They're not re-useable. Get a set of ARP bolts, you don't need studs. The ARP bolts are re-useable. You'll also need to apply sealer to the lower(outside) head bolt threads, the holes go into the coolant jackets. I use teflon pipe thread paste from the local parts house or lumber yard.

The torque to yeild bolts have integral washer heads and/or are threaded their whole length. Ford says torque em three times max then toss em. These were first used in the ealry 90's.

So I need to get some good quality head bolts I guess... Would the parts stores have some good quality bolts, I mean they won't be as good as the ARP bolts, but good enough. One more question while I am at it. On the head gaskets, will they require special GT40 302 head gaskets. E7TE and GT40 heads use the same gaskets correct?

Same head gaskets for both. Intake too. I use the factory type Felpro expanded graphite head gaskets. The Felpro Printo-****s are too failure prone.
