The job of getting things switched over to the 6.2l v8 block casting has started at Cleveland casting plant. I do not know for sure but have been told assembly for truck version will be at Windsor engine plant. The aluminum DOHC will be built at Romeo engine plant. Shelby is already testing the DOHC at Roush with "TWIN FORCE" twin turbo's and direct injection. So a lot of development is already progressing. Now if gas doesn't go too $4 a gallon!
Should start casting blocks this fall and production by end of year.
The latest Ward's auto reports states "FORD INTENDS TO BE V8 BOSS" and so the article goes. A vendor told me that his company is to supply some of the equipment to assemble the new V8 and he said Romeo engine plant. I guess we will find out soon enough KING!
I asked my mom and she said she doenst have a clue, No rumors around there. That would be great! Ford needs new V8's all they got is the 4.6 and 5.4! Now chevy brought out the 427 that they put in there Escalades. I bet those things fly! Hopefully ford does some new stuff.
I did not know if this guy was correct because I thought all truck engines came out of Windsor engine plant. Windsor engine was promised in the last contract that they would build the new V8 GAS engine.
The 6.2l casting should keep Cleveland casting plenty busy. The 3l Vulcan engine used in the Ranger and old Taurus is out of production by March. So capacity will be for 6.2l V8 castings and I suspect that fewer 5.4 castings will be made as there are rumors that a 5.8l version will replace the 5.4l engine.
I have been told it is just a shorter stroke crankshaft and longer rods with the same bore.

Assuming that's what they did with the 5.4 to turn it into a 5.8...it don't make any sense. You've shortened the stroke, so decreased the volume of the cylinder.
Nick,
this is a newblock with a bore spacing of 4.53 inches amodular block has a bore spacing of 3.98 inches. The bore to the 5.4 and 4.6 is 3.553 and the 6.2l has a capacity of 4.2 inches. So with a bore over 4 inches yes you would shorten the stroke to get a 5.8l. Soryy I was not that clear.
