Just picked up.
Here's what I've found, the 89 LSC used a 302 rated at 225hp and 300ft# with a tubular header system ( not like that matters since it's going in my truck ) I'm trying to find what would be a good cam, carb, intake choice that would work well, make a bit more power and just flat out be fun to put in it. I'm sidelining the FI for a carb.
Yes, the Lincoln LSC used the same 5.0 HO that was available in the Mustangs. For cam choices, decide what RPM range you'll be running in and then take a look at Jegs or Summit's websites for cams choices. Remember, in a heavy truck you want more low RPM grunt so you need a cam that begins its torque curve down low, like idle or 1000 RPM up to say 4000-4500 or so. By the same token you want a dual plane intake such as the Edelbrock Performer or the equivalent. Long tube headers are also a good choice for a truck and a carb that's around 600 CFM works well for a mild 5.0. Holley's 1850 or Edelbrock's 1405/1406 are good choices.
How much do you want to spend?
I'm running that motor from an '87 with a carb setup and some y-303 heads and 1.7 rockers. The stock cam is a good one for a truck. You can add a bit of volume by going to the 1.7 rockers. It basically gives you the lift of the Ford E303 cam without the duration issues. I tried the e-cam with my set-up and it put my power band too high for off road use. It ran great from 2500 rpm's and up but with my 33" tires and 3.50 gears I couldn't take advantage of the power.
If you have good hood clearence go with the Weiand Stealth manifold. It's a good inch taller than the edelbrock performer. It has the broadest power band for a dual plane. For a carb I like the the holley but it takes a little while to learn them. The edelbrocks seem to be easier to bolt and go. I'm running a truck avenger 470 cfm and it's plenty of carb for me so keep it 600 cfm or less or low end throttle responce will suffer.
Your going to need a distributor compatible with the steel cam also. I used a 1 wire hook up from Mallory. It's big and if you want to run a large airfilter you'll have to get one with an offset base. The Mallory is reasonably priced though.
Long tube headers are the way to go.
You'll also need a regulator to get the fuel pressure down to 7 psi or even a little less. Send me a pm for a good ebay vendor that has execellent prices and service or if you just have any questions.

Thanks for the tips, I've already ordered the headers and have the motor mounts and radiator for the swap. I also have a line on all original Holley Carbs ( not rebuilds) for pretty cheap, some older racer I met a few years back bought out a performance parts store here when they went out of business years back and has a boatload of original 600's 750's and double pumpers, I might just go with a Holley 600 if he still has any around,, otherwise I have to agree, the Edelbrocks are a bit cheaper for bolt on n go. Baddad ? Know where I might come upon the intake you mentioned ? And another stupid question, would it be cheaper to put a mechanical fuel pump on it or just use the regulator that was mentioned above ?

The Ford A321 is available from any Ford Racing dealer, Summit Racing is one. This intake is a repop of the older Edelbrock F4B, Shelby "Cobra" high rise and the Ford C9OX intake. It's got a different runner setup than the Performer RPM, with unequal length runners. But it performs just as good. I have one on the 5.0 in my 89 Ranger. Works from idle to whatever your motor will turn. Be easier to just install a return style regulator than plumbing a new fuel pump.
