PS Pump Pulley

Gotta replace the PS Pump in my '71. How hard, or can it be done, is it to remove the pulley from a PS pump with out the "Special Tool"?

I would say that you are going to need the tool (puller), Unless you can heat the pulley while keeping the shaft cool. Then, MAYBE it might come off. The puller is the fastest and easiest way to go; in my opinion. Good luck!

Noah, That job requires a pulley puller to remove it. It is pressed on and you can cause damage by not using the correct puller. IMHO

You can buy a good enough tool for under $10.00.

Buy the one that does both PS pulleys & AC pulleys, I think they are $20.00

With the hassle of driving to a parts store every time, borrowing from friends I ended up purchasing my own puller/installer. Time and money well saved as I have done many pump and alternator rebuilds, i'm an independent type.
I have a Lisle pt# LIS38850 puller $52.86.

CarQuest has the same tool with their name on the plastic box.

This hasn't been a one time use tool, well worth the smiles every use.
