My sisters 05 Sport-trac was orginially boughts in Michigan and then bought on auction and shipped to Minnesota. In both of these states the, i thought, the block heater was standard equipment. If it is on there i can't seem to find it.
Where should i be looking for the plug in if it was equiped with the block heater? Or where would the actual block heater be located?
I don't have an 05 sport trac, but if it has a block heater, it'll be in one of the frost plugs on the engine block. What I think you are looking for though is the cord to plug it in. Look around the battery or it may be tucked up under something or tie strapped to a hose or other cable. Look for a flat type cord, three phase, that looks different from all the rest of cables and junk under the hood.
The factory block heater should be located on the passenger side of the lower grill. It's a small sping loaded plastic cover. Lift it up and you will see a three prong male plug. The block heaters are standard on all Explorers headed to Canada.
in general block-heaters are a "option" in most states. As stated in other replys blockheaters are located in various welch-plug (freeze-plug) holes in the outer water jacket side of the molded engine block. If your vehicle does not have one, they are retelitivy easy to install and available at most national parts providers.
