Did the rear shock mount on the crossmember have a pin type mount for the shock and rivoted to the frame mount. My truck has it and it's a pain to install new shocks and your limited to the type of shock to use. Plus the pin is very close to the wood bed panels. I've seen otherd use the eye type shock and simple drill holes with a bolt in the crossmember. Any thoughts which way would be better?
Mine have the pin type upper mount also. And yes, it is a pain to replace and the end of the pin is very close to the bed wood. I always thought that was the stock setup because who would make their own that way?
Just be sure to build your mount strong enough, the cantalevered stud will take a lot of abuse. If you wouldn't hit it full force with a 4# hand maul 10 times it ain't strong enough.
The pin type mount is/was used because it's cheaper to manufacture and it provides 360* of movement without binding.
