Problem with Ford warranty...Help!
Well, I just found out today that the exhaust maniforld studs on my truck have rusted away and the exhaust mainifold on the passanger side needs to be replaced and new S/S studs installed. Dealer states that the drivers side is ready to go as well. I have a 2003 F250XL 5.4L with the 7 year/ 70,000 mile warranty. I took it in today for service after taking a road trip to Washington state, (620mi. round trip). The truck now has 70,177 miles on it. The dealer said Ford will not warranty the work because I'm over the 70,000 miles. I explained I was on a road trip and wasn't able to get to the dealer until I got home. He just shined me on and offered me Fords 800 customer service number. Does anyone know where to go within the Ford Motor Company to plead your case? I feel this is totally unfair as I didn't even know the exhaust was going bad until I got back and went in for an oil change. Any help would be greatfully appreciated......Dan Thome (Trap2)
It's tough to get the dealer to move on anything like this. One thing you need to do is keep a level head about you. You will hit a brick wall if you get nasty about it. A dealer will more than likely need a OK from Fords higher ups to do the work. You will have to keep after them. I doubt they will give you what you want on the first try.
Water under the bridge, but if anything like this happens in any vehicle you own, get to any dealer you can to get it documented before the warranty runs out. If you are ona a trip and the odometer is working against you, find a dealer. Like I said, water under the bridge.
Good Luck

Some dealers would just do the right thing and handle Ford themselves, which they have the power to do. When your talking 177 miles over Ford will bend and warranty the work, especially if the dealer SM goes to bat for you. Sounds like your dealer wants you to pay for the repair out of your pocket so they get paid full boat and not what Ford would pay them for the warranty repair.
remember: this is a gasser: the warranty is 3/36, he purchased an x-warranty dunno if it was esp,esp will not budge above the warranty time/mileage limitations an iota- if he is the original owner the dealer can do a PO5 repair-customer,dealer and ford participate, backin up the mileage can be done, but?? nobody wants to get busted doin that, the PO5 limitation is 75k miles so ya gotta hustle
wow
I have a 04 superduty f 350 with 54K I did not buy the extended warranty. They just replaced the tranny with a new one charged me the 100.00 deductible.
He got it in under warranty even though it was almost 20K over warranty.
It depends on the service writer if you ask me. they always take care of me.

The was a Ford product not a diesel,, but still had the Blue Oval and FORD.
Best of luck. Jim
I have a friend who's tranny went out on his F150 about 3 weeks after his warranty was up. He expected Ford to at least help him out and maybe go half on the price. Why? I have no idea- the warranty was up and Ford has no responsibilty from that point. If they did that for everyone, what's the point of the warranty length?
So what is PO5. If a warranty is a contract and past the expire date then the contract is over. Now there is the topic of "in good faith". In my case the water leak existed for several months before they change the water pump. NOT my fault they misdiagonsed the problem, but I was still stuck paying the bill to pull the manifold. It would seem reasonable that since the repair to the water pump was not needed but an easier out, that the manifold would be covered. But NOT. Just a real world up close and personal experience.
