Replacing front Drivers Seat

Earlier this month I posted an item that my front seat had broken. I have located a replacement one in good shape, but need to know who to remove the seat from the van. I will be not removing lower base, just the seat including the seat track.

I am also interested in knowing how to remove the seat covers so they will match the other seats in the van...if this is possible.....

Hope someone can help

It is not difficult, but first use WD-40 fom under the van to let bolts unscrew easily. The most difficult is to loosen 1 bolt with torx head, retaining seat and belt lock. Use impact wrench. That is all

It would be a lot easier to take the base and seat out and then separate the two......

fwiw: Unless you have an impact torx bit, the bit will break before the bolt. If you soak underneath with PB Blaster for a day or two, it should come out. Loosenit, spray some in from the top, tighten down, loosen some more. Repeat until all the way out.

Actually it is quite easy to take the seat off of the base. Four bolts is all there is. That and the electrical connects. I've taken mine out and taken the covers off too. Although it's been a while.

Once you unbolt the seat and get it out, there is a plastic cover where the seat back lever is. IF I remember correctly, you take that off and there is a bolt to remove. This should seperate the seat back from the seat base.

Remove the arm rest by removing a Torx bolt. Remove the plastic ring bolted at the back of the seat behind the driver's head. On the seat back, there is a ziper across the bottom. Unzip this and open. There should be two metal rods that you pull out. Now you should be able to remove the seat back cover.

I don't remember how I took off the seat base cover. Once you get it out and turn it over it should be pretty simple.

Good Luck.

I followed the directions about taking the seat off the base...it was quick and easy at the wrecking yard. Took the damaged back off without removing the base, it was a bolt that had sheered off just above the left side mounting bolts.

I had no trouble removing the seat covers either and had it back together in no time, except air line for lumbar support...needed another set of hands at a different angle....total cost was $ 35.00 Canadian and my time...thanks for all of your help.

I generally avoid tampering with the seat upholstery unless there's a stain I can't get rid of, or something.

In order to repair structural damage to the seat, you have to remove the upholstery. Sometimes I wonder about the previous owner(s) of the cars I bought, and how they were able to break the steel frames of the seats, but somehow leave the upholstery in tact.

Two teenagers in a drive-in would do that

From what I have seen repairing seats at dealerships, very fat people leaning all the way back and/or plopping into the seats. Plop in head forward, bang back.
