Just thought I'd share with everyone that I'm buying a '92 EB this week. It's fully loaded and the interior is immaculate. It's got 136k on the odometer and just passed smog since it has to be resmogged when being sold...I had the Bronco checked by a mechanic (100pt inspection) and he was surprised on how well the engine was taken care of. The compression was still high, no leaks, blow by, etc. The tranny and transfer case were in excellent condition but it needs a new master cylinder, tires, and shocks which is no biggie. It already has a new muffler, brakes, and gas tank. I got this all for $2800 bucks. But...the rear wheel wells have some rust and I want to cut out them out and put in some patch panels. Has anyone used these before? I think I saw them from Millsupply??? I can't wait to get into it and start doing some mods. But first things first and that rust needs to be taken care of. Any info on how you went about doing the rear wheel wells is greatly appreciated.
It's great to finally join the ranks of Bronco owners.
Are you set on the patch panels, or would you consider putting on new quarters? I realize they're more expensive, but you'd get a new, straight, and rust-free panel from the job..... Just my $0.02.
I'd have to agree think about new panels i'm doing it. I have an 89 in top mechanical condition with nearly everything new on it. If your truck is as good as it sounds then take care of it. That way you won't have to worry about rust for a long time and the truck would look sweet also. There about 200 a piece but remember rust never goes away. now you have 4 cents towards new panels.
There is an aftermarket auto parts company out here called Levan group, I called them today and for new rear fenders they want $46. I figure what the heck, if they don't fit right, I'll just cut out the fender lips for the wheel well and weld them in.
I just called Levan (4:45 Pacific). I live in the area that they are located, San Jose CA, so if they had something I could go over and take a look. They said they only carry front fenders, no quarter panels. Since I only need quarter panels, I didn't ask what their prices were.
thanks steve0... im gonna call tmrw and see if they handle rockers... i think im gonna trim the fenders... kill the rust and fit larger tires in one project.
