Ok so I found this yellow switch behind the fuel filter.......well I just had to see what it does so I flipped it and about a cup of diesel came out of a drain tube. I didnt get a owners manual for the diesel so I am not sure what it is and what I did...Did I "F" something up? I noticed when I turned the key to on position the fuel pump sounded like its was guzzeling some airbubbles, it did this for about 8 cycles then I decided to just start it up and take it out and get on it a little to work the air out of the pump. Is that bad? I mean can you just flip that switch with out changing the filter and then just go about busesness as normal or do you need to do any other special steps after flipping the switch?
That is not a switch it is the drain valve for the fuel filter housing you open it to drain the fuel to change the filter the pump runs more because it is filling the filter and housing back up it is not going to hurt anything just make sure you close it when your done with the filter change.
AWWW so thats what that switch does, well thats a relief so now why would the fuel pump sound like its got air in it when I cycle the key to on and the pump is primeing? i guess its primeing the fuel system. It doesnt do it now but after you drain the separator do you have to prime the fuel system?
