I was wondering is there an in tank fuel pump in my 2001 7.3 or is there only a lift pump that goes into the HPOP. I wanted to do some fuel system upgrades and I do not know where to start. The Diesel Site fuel system is like $1,400!! I have a DP tuner chip, Wicked Wheel, Banks Big Head, full exhaust, and a Dieselsite pop off boost fooler. Any advice would be appreciated.
Check the Fuel system at ITPDiesel (Intank and Regulated return). The only stock fuel pump is located on the framerail under the driverseat and is plumbed into the Fuel filter housing. The HPOP is on the oiL side of the Injection system.
You can shim the Fuel pressure regulator on the filter housing to raise the fuel pressure, but the BEST thing you can do for your truck is the intank/Prepump mods and remove the source of air ingestion in the fuel system.
I have ordered from itp a couple of times and Dennis is a great guy to deal with. I ordered there intank/prepump kit but haven't got around to doing it yet, ton of parts laying around but no time to do them. itp also has a forum on his site for any questions.
