I have a 1991 ford ranger 4.0 5 spd. I do not have a clutch fluid resivour is it a sealed is it a sealed syestem? if so how do I add clutch fluid do i have to take the tranny out or what?
What you are saying sounds very unusual for a manual transmission truck. Have you checked the area around the firewall by the brake master cylinder for a plastic container that is light colored but partly translucent. It's about 2 inches in diameter and has a cap you can unscrew to add fluid. It has a tube coming out the bottom that goes to the clutch master cylinder there at the firewall.
It is a 'sealed' system just like the brake system is 'sealed'. The clutch master cylinder allows you to add fluid, and you bleed the system similarly to how you bleed the brake system.
Find the back of the master cylinder, and follow the flexible rubber line from the top upwards to the reservoir, it should be bolted to the firewall somewhere near the base of the brake booster.
On my truck it is either bolted to the left (driver's side) fender, or to the firewall right next to the fender. Either way, right near the corner of the engine compartment.
*I don't believe it's true for any Rangers, but my father's Ford Focus uses the same reservoir for both the clutch and brakes.
