Question Multiple Issues. Trans, Starting and OBD for '96

I'm not sure what to think,
I just got a '96 F-350, Crew, 4x4, SD, w/7.3.
The trans was bad, confirmed by Ford service.
I never drove vehicle and know very little about previous condition except for when trans died a person was driving, developed a trans fluid leak and kept driving untill stranded on side of road. ( I thought the same)
I installed a Monster E4OD Remanufactured Transmission (http://racetransmissions.com/store/p...roducts_id/715
At firt trans. would not shift unless I shifted manually. but never higher than second gear. Read in forum about removing fuse #9 under hood for ten minutes to reset. O.K. After reset Trans shifted a little harsh but working. Over drive light flashing. after about 50 miles or so, could not start. Removal of #9 fuse for 30 minutes and she fires right up. lately I've just jumped the stsrter sollinoid. ( Tired of waiting) Tried checking for code but only get error from OBDII. 170 miles on new trans, all gears and OD operations work. How do I get codes? Different sequence? Anybody have sugestions or ideas
Thanks

If you don't have a scanner, you'll have to take the truck to someone that does or have them come to you. You mentioned a flashing O/D light. When the O/D light flashes, does the speedometer/odometer stop functioning?

I had the problem of the flashing O/D light, speedometer needle dropped to the bottom, so mph wasn't shown, and the odometer went blank. (This happened while using cruise control.) When this happens, the transmission feels "clunky" because the PCM has switched over to "limp home" mode.

I replaced the CPS and the VSS. It's only happened one other time, but I haven't pulled #9 yet. I'm pulling the fuse this weekend after my daughter's basketball game.

After pulling the #9 fuse to reset the PCM, it will take 10 miles or more of steady driving for the PCM to "relearn" how you drive. You might try driving at different speeds for a continuous 10 miles or more to see if that makes a difference.
