Your float level is probably too low. As a test, try putting it in neutral, stopping hard, and rev the engine at the same time. Probably will do the same thing.
I had the same problem before . It ended up being that the ignition coil was bad . The windings in the coil had vibrated loose , and when I would make a right turn the winding would short up against the can and kill the ignition system .
Took a LONG time too figure that one out .
Does anybody think it might have something to do with the fuel tank? Today, i'm going to try to hook up my timing light to the coil and tape it to my hood so i can see it, then take a few right hand turns and see if it stops when the engine hesitates. then i'll know if its an ignition problem or a fuel problem. I tried putting it in neutral, hitting the gas and stopping really fast, but it didnt do anything, so i'm assuming that the float levels are fine even though i didnt check them. Could the fuel filter be causing this? I have one, i just don't know where it goes... theres one on the carb itself, and theres one inline with the fuel line somwhere, but i've traced the fuel line, and i can't find it. thanks for your help.
