Ok, I'm confused I have my truck programmed to +100 with a predator. The SES light comes on then off after a few minutes. I was told I need a B.O.V. to regulate boost. I thought the wastgate did this?? Can someone explain?? Thanks all!!
The wastegate does, to a point. The stock PCM still thinks it should defuel around 24psi, a boost pressure that is WAY above the factory specs, but easily reachable with a tuner. The wastegate will not control boost down that low unless it's constantly open. You need a MAP regulator, from www.itpdiesel.com. I think it's $44.95, it mounts in the MAP line, between the compressor manifold and the MAP sensor. It will fix your overboost code.
Oh and don't even think of a blow-off valve like the ricers. Diesel engines have no throttle plates, so they do not need to dump the boost when the throttle is closed. That is why it annoys me when people say they were going WOT in their diesel... How about Full Fuel?
