I have some money in the bank account, and it can't stay there. My PMS infliction already has it spent for me, and i have a list of things i want to get...
-Fluidampr $400 (they say replace the oil pump while its that close, $70)
-Line of Fire with white reverse lights -$100 (I just bought $86 of LED's last night for exterior lighting)
-Line of fire BIG RIG led side lights, i measured and i want 84" of light, but unless they sell a 24" stick, i can buy a 62" set and that will get me close. I want to go from the front of the front door, to the rear of the rear door. -$100-200
-LOTS more gauges. I want four up top, two in the instrument cluster, and one on the steering wheel column. I am thinking Oil temp, oil pressure, water temp, volts, post/pre IC temps is 7, i could do rear diff temp, but i dont really want that unless i get a rear Mag-hytec cover. Any other gauges you can recommend? $?? 600-800? (dont want to spend that much right now)
I wanted to save the gauges until i got my lift sold, i lowered the price a little because i want it gone now, i can get alot of gauges for that... And I wanted to get the front end conversion and Fluidampr with the money from the wheels and tires, that can wait. My trans feels alot stronger with the small tires back on, so im saving the BTS until it blows up, but im not trying to blow it up. Dont want any tranny mods.
Any other opinions as far as power mods? I want a Juiced IDM but i cant find one anywhere. What do you think my next mod should be? How about the Flex-a-lite fans, i dont tow at all and never get the engine fan to kick in with my cold front in.
Its a Hydraulic Vibration dampener, on the end of the crankshaft, much better than the stock rubber one. I have a idle vibration and instead of checking the easy PS pump method, im going to do the Fluidampr. But my oil pump is fine. Or is it? The gauges would tell me!
You got a fuel pressure gauge? Very good investment for me at least. You want the IDM mod? You can do it if you feel confident about it. All you need to do is change a resistor inside of the IDM. Here is a link. IDM Mod
Shoot me a PM with a e-mail and I will send you a bunch of gauge pictures... I have 4 in the overhead, 4 on the a pillar, 4 around the stock dash (very easy mod to the two gauge set up) and will be adding 1 to the steering column and three to the under dash pod....
Right now gauges from top to bottom... Upper pod, Fuel pressure, oil pressure, oil temp, water temp... A pillar, right manifold pyro, left manifold pyro, boost, manifold pressure. Dash pod, tranny temp, Drive oil pressure (TC lock up pressure), Volts, Fuel Level (for 100gal tank in the bed).
Steering column will be a HPO gauge in about a month. Under dash pod will be Intake air, post IC air and Water pressure (for water injection pump)...
Go to the above site for the IDM mod... very easy and Daryl can awnser any questions you might have.
I "supposedly" have the IDM mod. The guy who started it joe servo lives in michigan and the guy i bought the truck from said that joe did the mod. Do i have it done, idk.
You know, if you'd come over here with your mods, i'd help you install them in my 60*F shop! It's 5* outside!
CSIPSD, my email is my username here, @hotmail.com.
John i will look at that link, thanks. My diesel tech teacher is a very good electrician, im sure he's been inside the IDM before. Whats a good voltage to run, 130, 140 V? Stock is 120 right?
Fuel pressure, duh.I knew i was missing something. I only listed 6 gauges in the list that i wanted, that was one of them. My y-block has a handy port built right in it for a sender. Thats what its gonna be then. Where should i go for them? Autometer Sport comp II. I got my other gauges at PDP but this time, im going to try wiring them myself.
The ISSPRO gauges are a lot better made than the Autometers.
I have the Autometer Sport Comps because I wanted to match the stock gauges, but then I helped a buddy install his ISSPRO's. They knock the Autometer's d*ck in the dirt for quality. Granted I've had no problems at all w/the AM gauges, but the all plastic construction lacks the quality of the ISSPRO's metal housing and glass lens.
I'm buying an '03 King Ranch 7.3L from a neighbor w/less than 20,000 mi. in two weeks. I know what I'll do different on it.
The only thing i have against the ISSPRO's is the look, they don't look the same as my Autometers. If i had no gauges, i surely would get ISSPRO's as close to stock as possible. Thanks for the pics CSIPSD, but i want black face gauges with green (clear lighting and red needles just like factory.. possible?
They have the red pointer one but for some reason no pic?
Here is another gauge with the red pointer. You can add LED's to get the chrisp lighting like I have. Blue, green, Red... But they come with bulb covers
Hard to compare the cheaper AM's to ISSPRO. I have C2's and love them. I also know of a couple people that have had problems with the ISSPROs. Just a matter of preference.
Where should i go for them? Autometer Sport comp II. I got my other gauges at PDP but this time, im going to try wiring them myself.
I got mine from summit racing. I LOVE my sport comp 2 fuel pressure gauge, the price is a little more but they are much nicer. Im probably going to up grade all my gauges to Sport Comp 2's you cannot compare with the way the light shines through the numbers.
