You can buy the crome running boards just about anyware they sale after market truck parts. I kind of like the King Ranch boards, If you change them keep in mind it will alter the King ranch Package and afect re-sale
My 03 Lariat has the OEM chrome oval steps...I like them better than the bench type...
I would think you could find someone that has removed theirs and would sell or give to you cheap??
I know I can always go with the Westin ovals. But having the Ford ones kind of keeps it "factory".
The current bench steps have the lights in the ends, and I plan on using that power feed to run some white LED light strips just under the lip of the body to light up the steps and the ground around it.
I have seen some oval steps with a plastic splash guard between the bottom of the cab and the bottom of the oval tube. Is this a ford part? I like the step bars, but I also like the protection the "bench" step provides from rocks and other stuff the tires fling back.
I got a set of NFAB bars from 4wheel parts . . . man I kind of like those. The main tube sits real close to the body and there's bent tube steps for both doors and the bed. Worth lookin at, I guess if you're just gathering options. No drilling there either. But man, try to hold one up and get the bolts in alone. They're like 12 ft long, lol.
