fuel dripping

the other morning (it was in single digits) i went out a started my truck( 7.3)and i notice a spot on the cement and i reached down and it was fuel and i looked up it was dripping from the drain tube that comes off of the fuel filter bowl. it stops after you run it is the normal or should i worry about it.

No leak is good even if it stops. I was talking to a friend and he had to replace the fuel filter drain valve(cost $54.00) Dealer said this is a common problem. Looks like Ford should fix this.

the o rings in that valve are your problem, they are about 12.00 and easy to fix forget the dealer check with Garret at pure diesel power they're one fte's sponsors

Same issue on my 99 250-had a few issues. First I procrastinated getting it fixed, Second it blew completely on the freeway, Third I lost alot of fuel, Fourth had to have it towed and finally my wonderful dealership took me for $550.00. I then spent 42K on a new one!

Thanks for this thread - I also live in Maryland, and had the very same problem as getnbz. Talk about good timing!!

Mako314 - I know you said the o-rings are easy to change, but are these o-rings just standard size o-rings, or is there something special to make them "proprietary"?
