It has all the right touches for a traditional 50's custom. Lancer hubcaps, tube grill, spotlights, red and white paint. No clue on the interior, but it should be white naugahide bolsters with red roll and pleated inserts, white dash with red and white striped plastic teardrop switch handles, 8 track hanging under the dash or better a 45RPM RCA phonograph, and of course Fuzzy dice hanging from the rearview and a frilly garter hanging from the glove box door handle.
I hate to admit it but yes, I was there done that, and still have boxes of 50s, 60s magazines stored away to prove it. Many of the mags are the old 1/2 size ones.
Serious or a joke?
Serious: in the summer it was when the seagulls would come inland and hunker down, in the winter it was when they would string ropes along the sidewalks so you could hang on to keep from being blown away.
Joke: Like eating shellfish, look at the calendar for every month with an R in it????
I have 4 rubbermaid size boxes full of car books---that is how I made thru high school!!ha ha! I look through them sometimes and the 50s custom trucks and cars were inovative, but I usually like stock. Those were the days you couldn't pick up a mig and weld--all lead and brazing!!!I used many brazing rods and ground the hell out of that heavy duty sheet metal.I miss those days!!!!!!
I used mainly Oxy/Acet and coathangers for my magical welding feats.
We had an Arc Welder from Erie Forge and Steel. Lowest setting was like 160 AMPS. I tried some of those little 1/8 sheet metal rods, they turned a real brite red/yellow and dissapeared.
I used the 3/8 rods for cutting frames and heavy stuff. Didn't have much grass to mow around that section of the yard.
Ah yes coat hanger welding rods! Built a go-kart with my father one winter when I was ~ 12. My mother would go in the bedroom and find clothes out of the closet laying on the bed because we needed more welding rod.
