Morning! I've got two V-10 engines. One in a '02 F-550 4X4 that has 39,000 miles and the only issuses were the right side exhaust manifold bolts rusted and broke, anyway that should be another subject.
The other truck is a '01 F-250 4X4 41,000 miles with a fussy oil pressure gauge. I'm running motorcraft 5-20, but have run 5-30 mobil 1, with the same effect. When the truck is cold, I have zero pressure on the gauge and the idiot light stays on for a minute or two. This kinda freaks you out when you look at the gauge and it has to be a faulty sending unit, but I can't find it on the engine. The ford dealer is my last choice. The engine runs great, no knocking ever, but it does start hard in the cold, when it has sat for a few days.
The sending unit is on the driver side of the block towards the front. It has a small plug going to it. Its kind of a pain in the a$$ to get to it, and you are supposed to need a special tool to remove it because in is not shaped like a regular hex nut a wrench would fit on. It is more circular. I got mine out with channel-locks.

Found it, installed a new unit and the gauge is back to normal!
