Wives SUV is a 92 Olds Bravada sure track. It is like the vacuum modulator is out. But it don't have one. The fluid is good. But shifts hard and seldom gets to overdrive under 50. Won't shift out of 2nd till in excess of 28 mph. Just about like the modulator is out. We have been running through two plus teet of snow almost dayly. As i will crawl under it tomarow and run the codes what do I need to look for? If a wire is of on the tranny where do i look so I don't get the backup lights. If wiring looks good. Than where do I go to time the shifting with the engine . In as mush as what controls the modulator?

I even tried an Olds site and haven't got a reply there either. Someone must know something about this. As it will cost 70 bucks I don't have to put it on the scope. And I am not sure she would make the 100 mile one way trip. It isn't slipping. Its grabbing and shifting hard at higher speeds than It should.

Olds Bravada is the same thing mechanically as a Buick Rainier, Chevy Trailblazer and GMC Envoy.
Thanks Bill. I'll run a search on the Olds site today and see what I can find. I know better than ta call the GM dealer in K town as there answer for everything is. I am sorry Sir but you have to bring it in as we need to see it. That ain't happening. We will run er till we can scrap up enough for the computer test in Craig. If she pukes I'll just have to R&R it.
I thought back then ('92) they were the same thing (just a little more upscale) as the S-10 Blazer's and GMC Jimmy's? I don't think they even had Trailblazers and Envoy's out yet, did they?
Ya it is just a leathered and powered up S-10 with some more trim. With the exception of the all wheel drive Smart-Trac. We got our heart set on an Expy. But till the surgeries are over and I go back to work. Or the Rocking Chair kicks in. We find it hard to Even pay attention. Let alone payments.
I just wanted to make sure that I was thinking about the right vehicle before I went down and asked the fleet mechanics if they had any ideas. They work on our semi's, but 2 of them used to work for independent car shops and it never ceases to amaze me the random crap they know. Anyway. . .
They said it may be as simple as it needs a fluid and filter change or it could be the tranny control solenoid.

Well I believe ya nailed it as a fluid and filter was my first thought. But I am leaving for surgery in a few days and Momma won't put out the money. But I got a way around that. Is the control solenoid the one on the pass side of the tranny. Ain't much room there to R&R that if it is over an inch or so into the case. Maybe remove the fan and the cross member to get enough clearance?
Thanks Tricky
Well the fluid and filter change has not helped. But it was done about an hour ago. Momma has a 30 mile drive ta get home tonight. But the speed will be only around 25 MPH as the roads are in a very bad way. If it doesnt clear up and shift right by the time she gets home. I will try and adjust the actuator cable at the throttle linkage. I am sure the shifting actuator is sticking. What do ya all think about an additive like Lucas or something. Please any input on this is greatly needed. Thanks
Is there any sensors that could need cleaning or replaced to tell the computer when ta shift. As it has wires at the actuator on the tranny where the cable connects?
There is also another elc connector by the shift linkage. Is that for back up lights? Or something else.

Try the TCC solenoid, my boss had an S10 that did the same thing,, I swapped it out and no more problems, apparently it's a very common problem on those.

Sounds good. Where is it. is that what I am calling the actuator on the tranny with both elc and cable control?
