I read the earlier post on cats and someone said they had a bronco with a 302 that had two cats while others only had a single cat.I had a ford f250 with a 351 that had duel air pumps while my f150 and bronco have only the single airpump, also 351. I had to drill a special hole when I installed my headers on the f250. I have never run into a duel airpump 351 since.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 19-Dec-02 AT 00:45 AM (EST)]I ran into a dual air pump on a mid 80's F-350. Well, there were supposed to be two of them....someone had removed them and left all the other emmisions stuff in place which wreaked total havoc on the carburated 460. Stupid thing never did run all together well. It belonged to t friend who just gave up and sold it.
He didn't feel like forking over the high dollars for the double pump so he kept spending a little here and a little there when everyone told him the best fix was to put the pumps back. I think he spent more trying to get around the expensive pumps than he would have if he had just bought the things.
Did he have headers? I bought a pair of jba headers that I thought would be a easy install but ended up being a huge project because of the extra airpump! I made them work and the truck did run great but it was not easy.
