hi im pretty new to this board, i have a 1977 F-100 Ranger stepside 4x4 with a 351 mod. i have it stripped to the frame and have refinished the axles frame exc, and just bought the rear lift. The plan was to flip the shackles which i have done and install 5.5" Superlift rear blocks to get rid of the old ones for an over all lift of 5.5 or so. i got the blocks and when i installed them the plate on the top where the u - bolts got through didn't line up with the seat holes on top of the leafs. if i added weight would it help line it up? or do i need to do something else im missing?....thanx for the help.
I am confused. Do the u-bolts align with the top plate? In other words, are the bolts simply too short for that big ol block, or, are you having an alignment problem where the u-bolts will not fit into the plates at all?
If you take the plates off of the spring, and you remove 1 u-bolt, does the u-bolt fit the bolt holes in the plate? Other than being too short, I can't see why it will not fit.
Are you actually using a 5.5" block with a shackle flip?
The bolt that goes through the leafs to keep them togther, there is a plate that the u - bolts go through that sits on top of the leafs and theres a hole in the center for the plate to sit in and not move....it will not sit in there it is to far ahead....about 1/4 of an inch. i took the old 3 inch block out and did a shackle flip to give an overall lift of about 5.5 im goin for around 6" in the front to level it out. Sorry for the confusion hoep this helps.
The hole is exactly in the center of the plate, and it did not change. The spring is exactly the same, so there should not be an alignment issue. Can you post a pic? I am still a little foggy here.
What does the gap between the spring, and the block look like? How about the gap between the block and the axle? Did the alignment dowels go into the correct holes, or did one fall into one of the openings in the block itself? This will cause a big mis-alignment issue.
