Brand new to the forum...and I need some advice please.
I have a 1999 whl drive and I could not switch from 2 whl to 4 whl...I finally was able to get it eventually in 4 wheel LOW but now I can not switch it to High or off......Possible just freezing as it is bitter cold here in the Western NY!?
Vacumn line frozen?
Hi there wildmanalso and "Welcome to FTE". I am not real sure what kind of transfer case or transmission you have or if you are working with a push button or manual shifting of the 4 wheel drive transfer. Have you tried disengaging from 4x4 low while moving at a very slow crawl? Or disengaging your control for 4x4 and then moving slightly to see if it will disengage? Again, "Welcome Aboard". Joe
Thanks Joe,
I have a selector switch on the dash. I have tried at very slow speeds, higher speeds, stiopping, backing up etc.....I really am at a loss here...I am thinking some moisture somewhere and it has frozen because of the frigid temps...???
Jim
It could possibly be moisture. It might be also that you popped a fuse from the motor working too hard in the cold weather...Shrinking tolerances and such. Pop the vacuum line off and see if you actually do have vacuum there. Gonna be rough to drive to work in 4x4 low. Joe
Well after a slow drive to the store and back...I remember a similar problem with a blazer I once had...............
So I put the truck in neutral AND depressed the brake, hit the switch...........and Voila' It is back in 4 wh High........Ever feel like really stupid??????
Anyway thanks all for your thoughts and ideas...................
Jim
Hey Jim, We have all at one time or another had a case of cranial rectal disease. Just glad you got the job done. It's the end result that matters really. It's good to see that you are man enough to admit it to the public... Joe
