The 3.8

i know this is a truck forum, but im looking at a 95 Mustang with the 3.8 and a 5 speed, its got 130,000 some wmiles on it, im told the heads were machined, dont know why, anyone have any eperience with these, how durable is the motor and transmission this thing has

The 3.8,IMO,is a boat anchor and I think they should have kept it out of the 4.2 forum.

I think the 3.8 kinda' had a thing for failing head gaskets, sort of like the 4.2 with the lower intake manifold gasket.
That might explain why the heads would have been machined.

The 3.8 was actually used in some early '80s F100 trucks.

The thing is the 3.8 is a nice running, and strong motor.... but it has had a lot of problems. Head gasket, heads, oil pumps.
