I feel so stupid

So the first time i lost fuel pressure, i found a rock. The second time, i think the screen in the pump is plugged, the third time i lost fuel pressure i think i acuired a rock again, i dropped the tank and found nothing. The forth time i think the rock was finally stuck in the pickup, i pull the tank down and clean everything out and nothing is there, added a screen on the end of the pickup(an innovative idea!). Today, finally i was losing fuel pressure, i would blow in the end the inlet of the pump line back to the tank, and it would run for about 5 minutes and it would happen again, by far the worst this problem has ever been. I started thinking to myself, what the hell is wrong with this truck, everytime i pull it into my garage the obstruction disappears. Hmm warm garage and obstruction disappears? Im on the phone with my buddy when my brain finally clicked and i asked him, what happens when fuel gels? He brings him over some 911 and BAM the truck is runnin like a top with full fuel pressure!!!!!!!!! Why i did not think of this, the reason is i add 3/4 of a bottle of the Powerservice in the white bottle which states prevents gelling down to -40? Odd i gelled at 0, i should have honored there free towing if it gells but i was already home! Im so happy i finally figure it out yet im so pissed it took me a month to figure out!

Good to gear ya figured it out. Gelling at "0" with the white bottle would have been way down my list.

I think your going to find that with the new ULSD the gel points are waaayyyy off, I am not a chemist but something in this stuff has changed all the rules for some reason. Went out and started the big truck today (semi tractor trailer rig) Friday put in winter blended fuel (all we can supposedly get locally) added a different anti gel that I have always used in the past, this would even keep straight #2 from gelling at -10 in the past, and I have never seen winter blend fuel gel locally even with no additives in it. Any case I also put in a bottle to treat 250 gallons into each of the 150 gallon tanks, well it got down to -3 last night, and was 5 above, drained some fuel out of the filter to check it, and was cloudy and starting to gel. the truck did start and all is ok for now (left it running) but with enough antigel mixed into winterblend fuel it should not even be considering gelling up at these temps yet there it is, gelling up like nothing is happening.
BTW I happened to have some older LSD #2 sitting in the garage that has the same anti gel additive in it, at the actual mixture for requirements and it's just as clear as when I bought it this summer (I put the additive in it to keep it fresher as it's just used in a heater) so LSD non winter blend, with less additive not gelling winter blend with max additive gelling gee and they say this new stuff isn't going to hurt anything yeah right.

I'm still on the tank the dealer gave me since mine is only one week old. I don't even know what type of diesel to use or what any of these additives are. It was -2 one day in the morning and mine fired right up (I had it pluged in over night though). What sucks about where I live is in a suburb and only 3 gas stations that sell diesel. Needless to say by next week it will be my first time ever pumping diesel lol. I have no clue what ULSD is but I'll google it unless one of you is bored and feels like explaining it lol. I just know that off road diesel is illegal to use here (my dealer told me) and that they could "stick" my gas tank so i just said ok. Never even knew there was different types of diesel.

ULSD= Ultra Low Sulfar Diesel, it means has less than 15ppm sulfur content vs LSD or low sulfur diesel which was at 500ppm. ULSD is required for the new emissions engines that are supposed to be coming out. it will not be easy to tell which one your getting because even the pumps labelled as being LSD not to be used in 07 MY trucks or later, is probably still ULSD just not cleaned out enough to meet the requirements yet. Just basically figure whatever onroad fuel you buy now is probably goiing to be ULSD
