difference between plow prep or not w/V10

I'm considering a new 2006 left over with a F250 S/C 4x4, 4.30 gearing, but NO plow prep package. If I decide to plow, what difference is these with the V10 plow package?

The dealer told me that these is no difference in spring weight with this motor, as the V10 has the max rate springs standard. Is this true, and is these anything else different?

I run a non-plow prepped truck and have no issues plowing. I have an 81/2' V- Blade and the truck works excellent. Not sure of the differences but thought I would let you know mine works just fine stock.

Well I doubt the truck has the max springs standard. If you have wt issues you can buy heavier springs pretty cheap. There are about 6 different ratings.

I went thru this with my plow dealer, they will NOT install a plow on a truck without the correct spring rating that is included with the plow pkg or listed in the plow manufactures brochure stating what the rating should be.
So I guess it depends on who you deal with and such.

There's no way that truck already has the max springs in the front... the PSD (diesel) is much heavier than the V10 and THAT would require the heavier springs, but even still, without plow prep, or heavy-service suspension package, there's no way those springs are the heaviest available.

Earlier SD's had a heavier-duty front axle to handle the plow, but since the Dana 60 made it into the front-end (2002), I don't think anything changes. You MIGHT get a Dana Super 60 front-end with plow prep and 4.30 gears, so there might be a difference in the front axle too.

Anyway, go to the dealer's parts dept, and ask for prices on plow-prep springs...

Only thing is, the nose of the truck might sit up higher than the back without the plow on the front

I own an 04 F350 with the snowplow package......it includes the heaviest springs available for this truck, which are 'X' code springs.....that is what you want...the springs are a little thicker and the front end sits up 1.5 inches taller than stock. hope this helps, Also, this was a factory ordered option.
