White Smoke?
First of all I am a new owner to the Ford Family (as well as deisel). Just purchased an '04 F350 cc 4x4 Lariat. Has 54,000 Km ( roughly 30000miles). Did alot of researching on trucks and had Oasis pulled on truck before buying. Only thing done on warranty was replacement of valve cover gaskets and Turbo CAC tube. My brother inlaw is now looking at identical truck except '03 6.0L with 120,000 Km (roughly 65000 miles). His cousin is a Ford Technician and says one of the tests to do on these trucks is press accelerator hard while truck is in park and if white smoke apears to run away fast. So my question is does this mean the head gaskets are leaking, poor combustion ( which I would think would be black) or what could he be reffering to. Anyway just wanted to know, so far love the truck.

On cold start-up... a puff or two of white smoke is normal.
Consistent white smoke or black smoke is not normal.
After warmed up... "wide open throttle" will produce black, but not white...
Is your friend that is a tech a Ford Diesel tech.... just any tech does not make them a "diesel tech"... and yes... there are differences.... just ask my local Ford dealer diesel tech.
Good luck,
