I have a '99 F250 4x4 7.3L CC which I purchased used from a local Ford dealer. The truck came with a lift kit already installed and BFG 315-70R-17 ATs. I am looking to upgrade my shocks to smooth out the ride somewhat. Anyone have any suggestions on how to determine the height of the lift kit? I think it is probably 4" or 6" but I want to make sure before I spend a couple hundred bucks on new shocks.
Any recommendations on shocks? I tow a 38' toy box. The truck has a dual shock set-up in the front and Firestone Ride Rite air bags on the rear.
can you see who the manufacturer of the lift is? It may be stamped or painted on a component of the lift along with a possible part number that you can reference to when you contact the manufacturer of the lift.
I can't find any manufacturer id on any of the suspension components. Only thing I could find is the shocks currently on there are Explorer 32650 (front) and Explorer 33200 (rear). Tried "Googling" that but came up with nothing.
explorer should be pro comp aint it?? remove a shock there will be small numbers in the shell of the shock body. your parts guy or off road shop can decipher the numbers.
also can measure compressed length and extended length for a correct measurement.
from my understandings you can only run up to 4in lift w/ airbags in rear, but that dont seam right, but i have herd it...who knows...
try measuring the rear block, stock should be 2in so a
2in leveling kit would have a 4in block,
a 4in kit would have a 6in block
6in lift would have a 8in block or a 6in block w/ add-a-leaf
that is of course if you have stock springs,
how safe is a 8in block anyways
hope that helps
I already purchased the Bilstein 5100 shocks, which should be delivered today, because they had one model which covered F250s lifted 4"-6". Hopefully I'll be OK with these.
