If you have the specific flash # you should be able to do a search by the # and get your answer.

The "latest greatest" flash hasn't been released yet. Seems that Ford has discontinued the injector cycle flash for something "better" . Just like the weather in Arkansas--if you don't like it stick around it'll change in a minute.

You know, I'm not blasting anyone, but why hasnt any of the performance programmers offered "fixes" for the injector cold start troubles?

Never thought about it until I read your post... but that is a good question???

Does make you wonder???

Guess the performance guys write performance tunes and not "cold starting tunes"???

Not trying to be defensive, but several SCT tuners have been addressing this problem LONG before Ford ever thought about the shutdown cycle flash.

We don't have the parameters to access the FICM (at the moment) without getting into the truck manually on a laptop. When we ran into cold start issues a couple years ago (which were falsely blamed on us at the time) we began advancing the low EOT injection timing which helped the problem. We didn't know WHY it helped the issue, all we knew was that it did...now we know why, as it helped to compensate for the mechanically retarded timing due to the oil.

And I am not the only tuner to do this; I know for a fact that Innovative Diesel and Lund Racing also do this because we were all working on things together at a period of time a while back.

So, while we don't ADD this to a flash that doesn't have it (because the current hardware doesn't support it without having the truck in hand) the issue has been addressed long before Ford bothered.

I just had my 2006 done this morning. The injectors now buzz after I shut the ignition off.

That's the current flash AGE. The latest hasn't been released yet--2/07 I think is what I read. I thought the dealerships were supposed to stop with the "buzz" flash, but I guess word is slow getting around.

you'll need to elabotrate on that one.. my truck is in the dealership right now for cold start issues. i have not asked about the flash yet. what is the reasoning for discontinuing the current flash? and what is the newer one suppose to do? great now i'll have to take it back in at a later date?

Could you please elaborate, partsman? I had the cold start flash done awhile back. Are you saying that on 2-07 the new flash will be available? Even for the ones that have already been flashed? Does the new flash cause the buzz to go away? Thanks.

There is nothing wrong with the old flash, it does what it was designed to do very well. The only "down side" is the buzz. There is going to be a broadcast on 2/7 outlining a new flash. It supposedly does something with heat. We wont know much more than that until the broadcast.

My mechanic told me they have had good results with the injector buzz flash. It seems to have eliminated the "rock and roll" and surging cold starts.
Mine never did any surging or shaking anyway but, what to heck. Git 'er done.
