new member considering an excursion

Hello, all. This site is great for researching Ford trucks. My name is Ron and I live in Kingwood TX (Houston suburb). My wife and I currently own 3 fox body mustangs (one 1990 and two 1992's) It is time to start thinking about children, and we will need a family vehicle, so being a Ford guy, I was thinking an SUV. I want the X because I keep vehicles for a long time, and while I don't currently own a travel trailer and car trailer, in the next few years, I will probably own both. So the flexibility of the Excursion is perfect for that. I am leaning heavily towards a diesel, and my price range is under $20k. I am pretty auto savvy with my mustangs (installing new heads, suspension, even a couple of motor swaps), But I know nothing of deisels, and they seem like a whole new animal. However, I am reading a lot on this board, and have learned lots just in the past couple of days. I really enjoy this board already because everybody seems to be very passionate about their trucks, very similar to the cult following that I am accustomed to with my mustangs (almost like a brotherhood).
