First, I'd like to address the manual slave cylinder leak thingy. I too was filling my resivoir every time I put gas in and I was still needing to stop on the country roads to get some more fluid. It really started getting worse a few weeks ago and I've been putting off the repair because it's time consuming and expensive.
Well, one day while waiting behind a deliveryguy that couldn't drive, I slammed down on the clutch pedal out of anger and kerplunk. I'd broke my clutch.
Got it home to find that the resivoir had broken from the firewall, cheapass plastic parts. Anyway, I bought the part $75, and at the same time, got a new steering box, which I will go into next. I replaced the slave master cylinder and wondered why I didn't just go ahead and pull the tranny now since I was to be doing suspention stuff also. But I didn't.

Next I replaced my steering box, because mine leaked and was sloppy as charlie brown on holloween. Well, got it all up and running and the steering is much inproved. Still feel a jolt to the left when braking hard and the right wheel will wiggle by hand just a tad latterally. My tie rods are new, ball joints good so I'm wondering if my wheelbearings are shot? Or since it's up there, are my manual hubs worn out? What should I be looking at to make it drive like it used to?
BTW, havn't put in and fluid for the clutch since, musta been a crack in my resivoir that leaked when I depressed the clutch. That's shure one nice bullit I dodged. Especially since the place that replaced the clutch did replace the slave at the same time but it's been over a year and it's out of warranty now. He he, lol I'm glad it's fine. Now, about those hubs, or wheelbearings? Anyone got anywhere else to look?
My steering box is new, as is my tie rods, ball joints and it's still not tracking perfectly. I'm planning new tires soon as I can get it fixed and sent to the alignment farries.
Also, to tighten up the steering, is a steering damper a good thing? My powersteering is like caddy type and a bit too powerful. Anyway to make it more modern feeling?

Chaiyz,
The steering stabilizer is a good idea especially if you have much larger than stock tires. But as for the wheel bearings and hubs the procedure is outlined many times over. A search should yield the complete process somewhere. the best way to be sure about the wheel bearings is to keep an eye on the steering knuckles when you try the lateral movement check. If the knuckles aren't moving with the wheels, there is your problem. I would suspect the bearings before the hubs but the hubs wil have to come out to replace the bearings...sounds like a good time to swap to manuals if you haven't got them.
