Starting Problem - Fuel Related

Hello! I have a 1990 Ford F150 with the straight six. When I want to start the engine I have to pause at the "on" position with the switch until I hear the fuel system charge up, then engage the starter. This usually produces a reasonably good start, but sometimes I have to "recharge" the fuel system to get a good start. The truck has done this for quite a while and is not dependent on which tank I'm on. It runs like a top after starting.

Could possibly be the fuel filter needs changed or somehow the systemis losing it's prime through a slight leak....

Thanks, flareside_thunder! I changed the filter when it started doing this and it didn't help. I think you're probably on to something with the leak theory, but I've always thought that I should be able to see fuel leaking somewhere! Maybe not? Are there certain connections that I should try to tighten?

No the fuel leak would be the Fuel Delivery Modules hi-pressure check valves leaking back to the tanks or the fuel injectors leaking into the intake manifold.
