I know its been talked about here but I still didn't hear what caused the beds on the 04 supercrews to jiggle up and down on rough roads? Also I have a rattle in the back seat near the back window and cant find it .Any help will be apprepiated ,thanks
Don't worry about it. It is normal. As far as your rattle... they are quite a PITA to locate. Do you by any chance have a sunroof? If so, then it is your headliner. Do a search for headliner rattle and you'll have your fix.
I have the 06, similar truck. My bed shakes like crazy on rocky dirt roads. And I have the annoying cliking sound. I know what mine is, I have the power slider rear window. There is a TSB out on this from Ford. I just haven't taken mine in yet. Ain't nothing like an annoying rattle, click or what ever it is, to drive ya nuts. Other than that, these big Fords rock!
I think tthe bed shakes are due to the shocks being mounted on the outside of the frame rail. This will pick up any differences in the road and magnify them.
I'd lean more toward the fully boxed frame for the bed issue. Unfortunately, strength has it's weaknesses, like the much less forgiving ride. On rough roads mine will bounce all over, the frame has very little flex to it. It's the price you pay for a half ton thats really not a half ton.
Every truck I follow has the bed shaking over any surface other than smooth roads. It is not just our trucks. After adding a bed cover that mounts inside the rails, my bed shake is almost completely gone, but heavy bumps will bring a little shake. As far as the rattle, I am still trying to hunt mine down, I have stripped the entire back seats out, and still nothing. My wife has figured out it is coming from the back portion of the backseat (so she thinks) Mine may be inside the seat cushions, who knows. If I evev find mine, I will make a post on it.
My '05 150 has a rattle on the pass side door area when on rough roads. It sounds like the suicide door is the culprit, but havent really looked into it. I've noticed when watching one of those Chevy or Nissan/Toyota ads on TV, if you look close, you can see their bed jumping around too. I'm hoping the new Rancho's will help a little. My old '72 always road a little better with a few hundred pounds in the bed, maybe I should throw a few old Chev parts back there?
I have a looped strap coming out of the interior trim just below the center of the rear slider. Anyone have an idea what this is for? I have pulled on it, but didnt get crazy.

That is an anchor point for a child seat. You have 3 of them in the back seat.
