When in FWD and hubs locked I am hearing a grinding sound from the front Passenger side in accordance with the speed I am going. WHen I slow down it slows down.....when I speed up it gets louder and faster. I replaced the hubs and now realize I must be totally off. This sounds like metal against metal and it only happens once per rotation of my wheel. Again, its only on one side(passenger front). When I put it in 2WD the sound is gone, even if the hubs are locked. If the truck is in FWD and the hubs are unlocked....there is no sound. Please Help Before I spend another Dollar or Hour on the Bronco
i had the exact same situation. all i can think of is your hubs arent engaging - you just replaced them, right? did you put any grease into the hub assembly? if so, perhaps you packed it too tight...
I replaced them with Warn Premiums. They are pregreased from the factory so I assume I dont need to grease them anymore. So there is no way that they we packed to tight. Also, the sound was evident when the old hubs were in, so I am really wondering if it is even the hubs at all?
what specifically do you mean by that? the front axle bearings, ujoints, spindle bearings? mine is making this noise asd well and I cant figure it out.
