Problem

When I am driving and when the truck is just on the overdrive OFF light flashes on and off. The truck is also shifting hard. Does anybody know why that is?

The flashing usually means the trans needs some attention. Pull #9 fuse under the hood. This resets the PCM. See if it comes back.

Check your tranny fluid. Is it Full? Check it hot, engine running in nuetral. Should be red with no burnt smell. If so, flush it and replace the tranny filter.

Could be the VSS located on the top of the rear differential. It's sometimes called a RABS sensor. Remove it, clean and reinstall.

Check all electrical connections on the tranny. Should be clean and tight. Look for corrded or bent pins and sockets.

When mine did that all I got was a generic transmission error code. It ended up being the torque converter was bad along with the electronics in the tranny. Replaced them and the tc. Solved the problem oh yeah replaced front seal that isn't quite right size from Ford, at least thats what the tranny guy said.
