I bought a used International D shaped fuel tank that I'm going to put in the bed as an auxilliary tank. The guy I got it from used it for gasoline and still had a little in it when I picked it up. Can anyone tell me if I need to do anything other than completely drain it before using it for diesel? I thought maybe someone who has done a Bronco tank swap might know or if anyone knows of a potential problem please fill me in. Thanks.
Just flush it out (with diesel fuel) real good it will be fine. Just check around with a flashlight to see if there is any rust from condensation. I am using one myself 100 gallon very nice indeed.
How big is it? How much gas is left in it?
Unless it has a lot of gas in it, I would just fill it up with diesel & go.
Old truck drivers always used to mix gas in thier fuel to prevent gelling. Never hurt them.
Thanks for the replies. It is a 75 gallon D-shaped diesel tank off of a 4300 series International. The guy I got it from used it for gas and there was probably a gallon or less in it when I picked it up. No inside rust so I guess I'm good to go. Thanks for all the advice.
