Background; Rough running then recovered. Check engine light came on then off. No codes. Ran fine. Next day dead in the driveway. Turned over fine with NO TACH MOVEMENT.
Changed fuel filter. NOTHING.
Everything pointed to CPS.
Just came inside from doing that and it is still dead. Brand new black CPS.
Followed the directions on here to a T including the fuse #9 removal prior to removing the old one.
When I turned to key on with the new one installed i get a C Err on the APCM. No start no wait to start light, no vacuum pump or anything. TUrns over but not starting.
Did you check your #30 fuse (or whatever number it is on a '99). Doesn't seem likely but it doesn't hurt to look. You might want to replace the #9 with a new one just in case.

Hey Med, man I feel dumb giving you advice. Ok, here it goes. On the no fuel pump thing, cause I know you been turning the key looking at the dash stuff. Drain the fuel bowl, then turn the key to see if it runs to prime the system.
Double check all of the PCM related fuses and diodes under the dash and under the hood as well as the relays. The #30 Joe mentioned is a common culprit if it reblows unplug the Fure Bowl Heater/WIF indicator on the rear of the fuel bowl.

Stand by man, we're calling out the big dogs.....
To much snow and too cold to do that tonight but I will do that first thing in the morning. When I changed the fuel filter at the beginning of this scenario, I can't remember if it did anything then or not.

OK will do.
However, I am still in doubt as to why the C Err is showing on the APCM and I have no tach when I try and turn it over.
If your PCM is not getting powered (No WTS Light) you will have no tach or APCM control.
Ah...makes sense. I just went back and checked to see if the C Err would go off or if it stays on and it stays on. I found a chart in the back of the APCM manual in trouble shooting and it says that if it stays on to CHECK COMMUNICATION LINES to the APCM or it means that I have it on the wrong year truck.
I know the year is right because it worked perfectly prior.
Just a shot here but, Unhook both batts for 30 min and reset the system, and then see what you've got ( I know its not Windows, or XP, but most computers need resetting every now and then) Mac guys, don't even touch that one.
