Hi all, I am in the process of installing a '87 4.9 EFI into my '84 F150 and I am trying to figure out my fuel issues. I need to know if someone can tell me how much fuel pressure the EFI requires. I can't come up with a intank pump like the '87 use without changing out the tank and that gets expensive. I am trying to solve my problem with an external pump.
Check with Jegs, they have several pumps for all types of applications,, just about any of them should work, just depends on how much you want to spend. I paid $180 for my Holley.
Just checked on the Jegs website,, they have the Holley BlueMax which will work real well with your setup for $136, it's a relatively easy install if you're somewhat handy and will mount right inside the framerail. I switched to an external after both pumps went bad in both my tanks and the new pump I bought for the front tank went bad after about 2 months. No problems now and works great.
Ok, what about the return line, is there a restrictor of some kind or is it just an open line? I assume there is a restrictor but I am hoping it is in the fuel rail.
