Angry 2005 6.0 PSD Excursion Owners

I have a question for others out there that have a 2005 PSD Excursion. I was riding in the back of my excursion today and I could not believe how loud it was in the 2nd and 3rd row seats. When the truck is under load there is a very loud drowning noise coming from under the truck. It is so bad it feels like something is vibrating under it. Is this common in the Excursion with the PSD or is mine messed up. I would also like to know if anyone in the Ohio or Michigan area has an Excursion. I am to the point where I want to ride in someone elses truck to see if mine has some problems. Please let me know if you can help. Thanks By the way mine is completely stock.

You might have a harmonic in the exhaust system from the turbo. There was a new turbo mount brought out in 2004 to address this issue. My 2003 X had it a 1750 RPM. I added an exhaust tip to lengthen the exhaust and stop the soot build up on the right rear fender and the added length of the exhaust system moved the harmonic down to 1150 RPM. The harmonic was no-longer an issue since 1150 is not a cruising rpm.

My 05 6.0 PSD seems OK in the 2nd & 3rd seat areas. No more noiser than the rest of the truck. Actually fairly quiet & vibration free. Also stock.

PSD05_Heckert,
I am not sure where you live, but I am in West Central Ohio and regularly make trips to the UP of Michigan. I too have a lot of noise comming from the back of my Excursion at times, but have narrowed it down to either Michael, Christopher, Nicholas, Lili, or Maggie. It gets particularly noisy when Maggie is under "load" and her siblings report fumes during these times.

Seriously, if you wish to ride in a 2005 PSD and don't mind the kids, we have an extra seat still. Good luck finding your source of noise. I have ridden in mine several times, and do not find it noisy. I love my truck and we especially enjoy the fact we can make it to the cabin and most of the way home before refueling. I also like the fact that we feel very safe in it, and our other car is a Volvo XC70, so we put a high value on safety in our family.

Do you have any after market equipment added? I was getting a load humming noise loadest from 60-70mph and ended up loosening leaf bolt on my radius rods as a temp solution.
