installed an after mkt radiator from autozone, same part is at advance. i found the radiator outlet/bottom nipple is pointing downward at about a 135 degree angle. my original rad outlet was at a 90 degree angle. the problem is the stock hose will not line up well and leaks on occasion. if anyone has had this problem what did you do to solve it. i'm assuming there is a better fitting hose on the shelf out there. please advise. (except for "do not use the zone or advance," or something like that)
They gave you the wrong radiator, more than likely. How many rows is the core? If it's two or three-row, then its for an '83-85 Ranger / '84-'85 BII. You may be able to get by with using a lower hose for those year model trucks.
The easiest solution is probably a flexible hose, as an example this one from Advance Auto
Gates 25480
1.5 inches id.
Probably the wrong radiator, at this point, probably the quickest fix is the flex hose. Nothing wrong with using one, I use them all the time. Just make sure it will clear the alt belt.
i originally looked up the rad on the zone's website with only one choice. today the parts man at the zone looked it up and found alternative rads with some choices, ie manual/auto w/wo air. the proper choices directed him to the proper rad. he will exchange it or i can get the rad lower hose for an automatic which is molded for the rad outlet nipple i now have. i guess it is best to have them look up the parts in conjunction with a websearch.
thanks for the replys
Replaced the one in my 89 back in Dec under waranty with one from O'reillys. It was the crrect one.The orig one I replaced in 98 had a life time warranty.Try O'reillys if you have one & take the one back to where you bought it if they do not give you the correct one.
