Well guys, Im am the proud new owner of a 43k 2003 F250 CC Lariat 4WD PSD! So far I have been VERY impressed with this purchase. I drove an hour and a half to get it and no issues on the way home last night or my hour commute to work this morning. So far, so good...knock on wood. The truck seems extremely healthy and FULL of power! I love it! Very smooth driving, more quiet than others I have driven and just overall nice! Thanks to all of those that gave me input and helped me make this decision. Im sure you will be seeing a lot of me now.

I couldnt pull an Oasis on this one due to it being at a GM dealership. I pulled the trigger because the thing was just plain powerful, tight, smooth and the deal was better than I had in mind. If at all possible for the powers that be to pull just this last one Oasis for me, it would be greatly appreciated.

 

Also, any advice or suggestions for a new to diesel owner are more than welcome!

 

Drive it like you stole it! Seriously, these turbos are notorious for having vane sticking issues, caused by soot clogging them up. These engines like to be run hard, and you will probably enjoy it as well, its exciting when you can't peel your head off the head rest during WOT. Other than that, keep up with maintenance, and change your oil every 5k or so, with Ford approved oil and filter. I use Motorcraft oil and filters on my '06. Nice buy, have fun with it!

 

Run your Oasis report on it.... Post the VIN# and one of the wonderful techs on this site will run it for you. It may have the updated turbo on it. My 2003 with 35k miles that I traded in late last year had the new updated turbo on it and so might yours.... Don't worry too much about all of the negative comments you may hear... Ford has all the bugs worked out and these are great motors. Find a good local Ford dealership with a great diesel tech and enjoy......

I'vefound on my 04. Run premium fuel and it runs even better. These machines require a very good/clean fuel to run properly. Don't skimp on fuel filters or try to run longer than reccommended. If you notice a slight power loss change both fuel filters.

Thanks again Bowtie hatr, I was sweating the outcome, but the darn thing just ran so good and the interior looked and smelled brand new and they made me a deal I couldnt refuse. they beat my number in my head by $2000. I would have bought the same truck for $2000 more and been comfortable, so it was all around good. And to hear it has no major issues is great too. I bought an extended warranty bumper-to-bumper as a safe guard since they beat the price in my head. Now for some new rims and tires!!!! I am quite satisfied with the power at this point, so aesthetics, here we come!

 

By the way, where can you find "premium" diesel? The places i have seen only carry one diesel pump.

 

You'll just have to look in your area. Some truck stops have it as do some local fueling sites.

If not then I would look at a diesel fuel additive to raise the cetane by 6 points. This way is a more expensive option and messier. You have to pour in a certain amount per fill.

 

I guess I am just going to have to look around. i live in a highly populated part of town, so big trucks are not common in my area either are diesel pumps.
