Ok.. Tell me if I'm retarded for spending $130.00 on Husky Liner Floor Mats? I haven't placed the order yet but thinking about it.. I have floor mats from Walmart that are raised.. I don't really get into bad snow (no snow in texas) or mud that's horrific.. If I ever did it'd be my own damn fault if my carpet got muddy.
Just can't figure out if its worth the 130.00 or if I should spend it on something else for my truck.
Get some of the clear carpet runner. It has the nubs on the bottom to hold it in place and it's ALOT cheaper then the husky mats, plus you can cut it to fit exactly as you want it to
In my X I have the front floor liners, center hump cover, second row floor, third row floor, and both rear cargo area mats (third seat in and third seat out) so I have way more than $130.00 in to the project.
I pour out mud, sand, snow, water and never worry about the carpet. And like it that way. Shop around for pricing, I did with all delivered to my door. Love the internet.
I'm not sure about the stupid or retarded, that help is elsewhere.
I use the Ford Floor mats that say "Super Duty" on them. Good Mat, really deep. As for everything it doesn't cover, I've Scotch Gaurded every inch of carpet and i will say, it helped greatly. Alot cheaper as well.
Yeah the wal mart ones aren't bad but I love my husky floor liners. I had them in my 99 and pulled them out and put them in my 07 now. They fit just fine in both. I had to order a new rear seat mat since I went from the supercab to the crew cab, so I sold my old rear seat mat to a buddy at work and he bought a set of front mats.
I also have the catch all carpeted mats, but the carpet doesnt match all that great. And they don't want to stay put very well. They come with some kind of screw thing that you are supposed to screw into your carpet but I couldn't get them to work, so I just throw them in. They don't have anything on the bottom of them to keep them in place like the little spikes on the huskys. I am thinking about trying to put some adhesive backed velcro on the bottom to see if it will hold them in place.
I run the huskys from deer season till the snow is gone, and then put in the catch alls. Overall I am happy with both, but wish the catch alls worked a little better.
I went with the clear Wally World mats and they work fine. Are they perfect? No, but for the $100+ difference I'll go with them. My carpet still looks like new after one slushy winter, one lame winter so far and plenty of mud. Beware, leave the mats outside for a while to air out before putting them in your truck. They stink pretty bad for a while. It wasn't ridiculous so I just left them in, but the next pair I'll air out for a while.
I tried the cheap ones at first, then said hey the truck cost me 40K, isnt it worth a few bucks to keep it nice? So I bought the husky liners and they fit mint. Got mine off ebay for 80 bucks shipped. No matter what I get on my boots it never will wreck my carpet. It's your choice...do you want to maybe protect the carpet/ Or do you want to protect the carpet, thats the real question here!!
I agree with Snowbuster, compared to the cost of the truck, another 130 to keep it nice isn't too much. For the amount of time you probably spend in the truck, it's worth it.
