Not worth it...I cleaned mine once, and it really didn't change anything...So what, the inside of the plenum is black..no biggie.
However!
I do recommend using seafoam as a regular intake cleaner. I buy two kinds, liquid and aerosol. I pour about 3 to 4 ounces of seafoam into a shotglass, put a 2 foot temporary rubber vacuum line onto an empty port of my vacuum tree and clamp off the other end of the line with a clothespin, vicegrip etc. With the engine running and warmed up I remove the clamp, and pinch the line between my finger and thumb, then dip the line into the seafoam and slowly release the pressure on the hose, this will allow the seafoam to be sucked from the glass, up the line, and into the intake. regulate the amount of seafoam being taken by the hose, by keeping pressure on the line with your thumb and finger, if you open the line completely the seafoam comes in too fast and stalls the truck.
As soon as all the seafoam is in the engine, quickly run around and shut the engine off. Let the engine sit for 15 minutes then re-start..you should get a big cloud of smoke out the exhaust..this is some of the intake dirt hopefully.
The blacker the cloud the better.
I also use the aerosol seafoam to clean around the throttle plate, IAC, whereever I can spray to bust up some carbon.
