This is some early testing on the tuner that i just got but first off all i can say is WOW. i just installed the 87 octane tune as all i had was a 1/2 tank of that in the truck. Now mostly i will likely be leaving that tune in the truck as i don't really feel the need for all that horsepower added right now. But what i have found on the first trip to and from work today was that the overhead computer is telling me that the milage when driven lightly, in the same manner as before has risen approx 1-2 mpg. Now if i put my foot into it to play the mpg goes back down to the very low 10's but the average for a trip to and from work today was closer to 13 when last week it was 11.2. Now i have only had the tune in for less then 24hr so haven't driven all that much but i will let you know after a week or so the difference. But for you SPL tech I'd really look into one to up your milage.
I went with a superchips tuner it is model 1715, comes with a built in code reader so that helps to keep track of that miss. I haven't had the misss for a few weeks so I think I figured it out, a can of electrical contact cleaner.
well this fuel tank isn't really a fair comparison, it has been brutely cold here since i filled, we have gotten some snow and i have been playing with the new found power, alot, but i have noticed that my overhead lie'o'meter tells me even with all the extra idling and lead footing that i have increased approx 1mpg on this tank full thus far. Give me a few more tanks to work out the lead foot issue and i will keep this thread rolling for all who want to know.
How much extra power do you get? I plan to get one soon off eBay. Is the extra power noticeable? Or are we talking like the difference between a K&N filter and a stock filter (not much)?
No this is noticable difference. I did most of my upgrade one at a time and went thru the same upgrades on the f150. first the k&n then the exhuast and now the tuner. i never got to the tuner with the f150 but it has made the most put it to the ground difference then any of them, the others made some seat of the pant difference but it was mostly a stepping stone for the end result
No with the superchips tuner you FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS CLOSELY plug in the tuner, kill the fuel system and follow the steps when you are done unplug the tuner and nobody is the wiser.

is this noticable difference with the 87 octane tune?
yes i haven't even put any of the 91 tunes in yet, didn't have the tank empty enough to put any in and now that i do i am going out of town to Nashville for the rest of the week and i don't think that the wife needs to break it in on a 91 tune.
