Just installed a new vaccum pump and it fixed my problem of the 4 wheel drive not working from the cabin with the switch also fixed the heat not coming from the floor vents but it still doesn't come out of the actual vents for the head. head vents for the cabin. anyone know why not?? also does the turbo have anything to do with that pump?? i also have a prob. with that i believe i reach 25 psi and goes back down to 19-20 and then 25 and back down. i have a banks power back with a ottomind chip. any solutions to those 2 problems?? thank you.
I think the boost situation you describe is simply a matter of the truck de-fueling. The engine will de-fuel when the MAP sensor sees boost above 24 psi or so. You hit 25, it de-fuels to bring it back down, fuel comes back on and it goes back up. You might see some benefit from one of these: http://www.itpdiesel.com/store.php?c...on=show_detail
It will keep the MAP sensor from seeing too high of a boost number, so the PCM won't de-fuel.
I'm with mrfixit64857 since the other HVAC functions and vent selections are working, it sounds like theres a vacuum leak in between the selector **** and the vacuum motor at the blend door. That , or there's a binding or obstruction.
amiller93 and jtharvey have you going in the right direction on your turbo.
If your boost is fluctuating like that but your engine is still running smooth, I'd listen for rapid cyclic wooshing sound from the turbo area. If you hear that, turbo surge/stall is what you've got.
if that is what i have with the turbos how do i fix it?? or get ride of it?? and about the vents how can i locate the vent servo or finding the binding???
For your vent problem I would check the three things in the pic below next
1.vacuum control motor panel/defrost door
2. vacuum control motor panel/floor door
3. blend door actuator
pull the line off one control motor at a time and see if you get a vacuum when the **** is selected to that setting. If not...you get the picture.
Just stick with it and start following lines under there. You'll find it.
