2002 4x4 ball joint guide?

Is there a good guide to replacing ball joints written out there? Looks like I'll be replacing upper and lowers in a few short weeks. Also, Ford wants you to believe that motorcraft parts are a cut above... is that true? Or are quality aftermarket just as good?

FORD did not make the original ball joints, they bought them. Racer has a full description with photos on the disassembly.
