Since my Ranger isn't a 2stroke race bike, I'm not sure what I'm hearing!!!!
I've got an 06 Ranger XLT, 4x4, V6 4.0L, 5spd manual. It's just over 1 year old with 23K miles, mostly highway, no offroad to speak of, well maintained. Just this week as the weather has gotten much colder, a light "tapping or "knocking" sound is heard while driving only until it warms up to operating temp. It does not do this in idle or while stopped. It will do it under power or rolling with the clutch disengaged. It does seem to be speed related(increases with speed, clutch in or out) not seemingly related to RPM change. It almost sounds electrical, as if a contact switch is opening or closing but no performance issues are noticed. Any input, insight or direction would be most apprciated- Thanks KTM300
Welcome to FTE. That's the type of problem that's hard to comment on without actually hearing the noise, even though you've described it pretty well. Why not schedule an appointment with a dealer and let them try and figure it out? It's well within the warranty.
Also, what weight oil are you using?
